From the Prayer Calendar: Marina Tarabicos - Pray that God will multiply her time and that the essential projects get completed before we leave. Keep his focus on the things that are eternal. Knowing that her true treasures are stored in heaven. Guard her heart and spirit. Matt.6:33 “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Chapters 5, 6 and 7 are the Sermon on the Mount. In this section of chapter 6, Jesus was teaching about worry. The first word of this verse jumps out immediately – “but” – meaning there is a contrast. “But seek first his kingdom” first ahead of what? Verse 25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.” Jesus was saying God knows what you need and promises to take care of what you need.
Verse 27 “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” Jesus was reminding them that worrying does not help but only hurts. If we are consumed by worry we cannot effectively serve. Pray today and this week prior to departing that God will help you to leave your worries and troubles behind so we can truly focus on serving the people of Guatemala. Philippians 4:6 – 7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
