From the Prayer Calendar: Caroline Schuler - Pray for God’s love be shown to Caroline and through her on the trip. “The Lord watches over you, the Lord is your shade at your right hand” (Psalm 121:5).
What a great word picture the author provides us – “the Lord is your shade.” There are really two meanings here: shade as in protector which was frequently used as a highly expressive symbol of protection or refuge especially in the hot, arid middle east. And shade as in shadow just as everywhere we go our shadow goes with us, so too God "shadows" us at all times and in all circumstances. Pray today that you will be so aware of God’s shadow and his shade – a great illustration especially given the heat we have been experiencing here in the south! Guatemala may actually be a break from the heat!
